AVL ApproachAVL's generic engine development process which is closely linked to vehicle development and production planning, is used as a guideline to include all development steps needed to find the optimum solution meeting all legislative and market needs. Advanced in-house R&D made the technology available for performance and emission development in client projects. Focussing on lowest engine-out emissions, a minimum of exhaust gas aftertreatment is required.
The development on advanced AVL test beds uses prototype hardware already pre-optimised by simulation for a better quality of the results and to shorten the overall development schedule.
To ensure the market acceptance of low emission engines, mechanical durability, driveability and acoustics are also checked and optimised.
Engineering and testing services are provided close to the customer from AVL's global affiliates and tech centers. Professional project management is offered to support the complex development process including the interfaces to suppliers, vehicle development and production planning. The exchange of electronic data between the partner companies is via Extranet. |
