Climatic ChamberVery demanding engine development processes, such as extensive engine test runs (temperatures ranging from lower than -30°C to up to 80°C) and always more stringent emission regulations, require either climatic simulation test cells or climatic chambers which are both costly and difficult to install.
AVL in co-operation with a specialist in the field of environmental simulation can provide cost efficient solutions for engine development under extreme climatic conditions.

- The system has a reasonable price and can easily be installed into new or already existing engine test beds
- In connection with dynamic dynos individual sections of the engine development process can be shifted from the vehicle on the climatic chassis dyno to the dynamic engine test bed
- By using the fast cool down procedure it is possible to increase numbers of the tests significantly.
- The extended range of application of the dynamic engine test bed enables the (pre-) adjustment of: Cold start, engine warm-up phase, exhaust emission behaviour, driving behaviour

- Climatic chamber air temperature range: - 30 to 90°C; (- 40°C cold-start conditioning possible)
Accuracy (under steady state conditions, after finishing the transient response):- Temperature: ± 1°C (engine not in operation)
- Temperature: ± 2°C (engine in operation)
