High performance and high reliability together with low emissions, low fuel consumption and low noise are main criteria in engine R&D, especially in combustion analysis. Any changes in the engine parameters have a very complex influence on these criteria. It is therefore necessary to gain comprehensive knowledge of the processes in an internal combustion engine. For all these purposes AVL has developed a whole family of indicating systems for enhanced combustion analsysis, each taylor-made to suit a particular application.
