The exhaust emission legislation world-wide for passenger cars are following a common trend towards very low emission limits. Moreover, the forthcoming emission limits have to be guaranteed even for long lifetime and mileage more than 100.000 miles.
Exhaust after-treatment is more than just add-on equipment. It rather must be seen as part of a system including the vehicle, the drivetrain and the engine. AVL focuses on optimising the engine as well as the electronic control of the entire system in order to meet the specific needs of the envisaged after-treatment system.
