Special port arrangements and investigation of flow patterns inside the port and cylinder are carried out at AVL using our own in-house developed computer code FIRE and SWIFT.
Backed up by many man-years of software development and sophisticated Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) and Particle Imaging Velocimetry (PIV) measurement techniques, this program allows complex flow analysis to be carried out at a very early stage in the design process. Coupled with AVL’s unrivalled experience in engine port development, new concepts can be readily evaluated and analysed before any commitment is made to testing.
