A very small amount of diesel fuel is used for igniting the gas charge in the cylinder instead of a spark plug. Due to the small amount of diesel fuel there is no negative effect on the well known extremely low NOx emissions, typically for gas engines. The general problem with spark plugs which have unsatisfying short life time can be eliminated.
