Sophisticated engine vibration models are used together with realistic excitation forces determined by AVL software tools such as EXCITE, TYCON and GLIDE, in order to optimise the engines vibration behaviour. All important effects such as crankshaft bending vibrations, highly non-linear oil film characteristics, piston slap, FIE excitation forces, gear- and valve train forces, and material properties are considered in the optimisation process.
The sound pressure and sound power levels at different field point meshes are calculated to identify the contributions and optimisation potential of different structures. Continuous support and collaboration with the acoustics development team and database results enhance the quality of the analysis results.
