AVL Micro Particle MonitorEver stricter statutory requirements call for extremely reliable and sensitive measurement methods for determining the exhaust volume from vehicles or engines. A dynamic, high-resolution particulate measuring device is therefore also needed in diesel and gasoline engine development work.
The AVL Micro Particle Monitor is designed for the continuous measurement of low particulate concentrations in diluted exhaust from IC engines. Being able to constantly observe the particulate curve makes it possible to reduce emissions to below the statutory targets over the entire test curve. In other words, it guarantees efficient development work. There is generally good correlation with gravimetric filter measurements, but the reproducibility of emissions containing mainly particulate in nucleation mode or particulate with a high percentage of soluble substances is generally not so good. In this case, the soluble content can be eliminated with a thermodenuder.

- R&D testing of extremely low-emission engines is possible thanks to the low detection limit (1µg/m³)
- The exceptional sensitivity of the AVL Micro Particle Monitor means it can also handle the demands of future legislation (EURO 5 onward)
- Time savings thanks to quick integration on the test bed
- High device availability due to low maintenance
- For diesel and gasoline engines, applicable on engine and chassis dyno testbeds

- High sensitive transient measurement of particle concentration
- Time resolution: 1 Hz
- Detection limit: 1 µg/m³
- Measuring range: 1 – 1000 µg/m³
- Particle size range: 0 – 1.5 µm
- Measured value output of particulate concentration in µg/m³, plus output of cumulated mass, mass median diameter and standard deviation
