PS 2000MAIN APPLICATION AREASParticle measurements are used to determine particle emissions in exhaust gases of diesel engines on chassis dynamometer and engine test stands in connection with CVS equipment
TASKS- Collection of part of the particle emission present in the exhaust gas with suitable filters (primary and secondary filter)
- Measurement of standard volume flow through the system
- Determination of the particle mass
PROCESSThe particle emission is determined with a gravimetric process, in which a proportional part of the flow is filtered. The sampling position is located in a dilution tunnel where a turbulent flow prevails.
DESIGNThe particle sampling system is comprised of the control and necessary sensor technology for analysis as well as the sampling probe. The weighing equipment is used to determine the mass of particles. The dilution tunnel, particle sampling system and weighing equipment supplied by PIERBURG complies with legal requirements and the specification of the working committee "Standardizing exhaust measuring technology" of the German Automobile Industry (AK Standard).

DILUTION TUNNELWith regard to the layout two types are available:
- Dilution tunnel wall mounted
- Dilution tunnel mounted onto a mobile rack (option).
The 3-stage ambient air filter is placed on the air inlet of the dilution tunnel. For large diesel engines, to comply with the specification (limit temperature <= 52ºC) the use of a secondary dilution tunnel is provided (double dilution).
PARTICLE SAMPLING SYSTEMThe system contains the following main components (19" modules):
- PSE Control
- Flow measurement equipment
- Sample pump
- PNE-2000 Power supply
- Particle filter (2, 3 or 4), external
When supplied in versions with a secondary tunnel, the diluting air equipment of the particle sampling system contains the following additional components:
- Secondary air pump
- Flow measurement equipment
The systems with secondary dilution can also be used in primary dilution mode.
CONTROL PSE 2000All functions of the system can be controlled either:
- manually through the keyboard with prompts displayed on the screen and / or
- with a host computer via a serial interface
The serial interface is designed to specifications in accordance with the working committee "Standardizing exhaust measuring technology" of the German Automobile Industry (AK Standard)
Features of the system:
- Compact design
- Control rack in 19"-module system
- Flexible layout to suit installation site
- Particle filter separated from control rack
- Several types for different requirements
- Monitoring functions with fault display on the monitor
- Activation of the test steps in stand alone operation via a separate interface through PIERBURG driver's aid FLG 2000
- Maintenance friendly
WEIGHING EQUIPMENTThe required high accuracy of the weighing results requires the use of a micro balance in a special balance room or weighing cell.
- Purity class 100 according to Federal Standard 209 B
- Purity class 3 according to VDI 2083
- Control of temperature and humidity as well as a continuous logging of these parameters
- very high accuracy
- selectable weighing range
- very good consistency
