MAIN APPLICATION AREASThe Precision Flowmeter AVL PLU 131 is used to measure fuel consumption on component test beds for calibration and test of Gasoline- and Diesel-Injectors. It is also used to measure fuel consumption on engine test beds.
The flowmeter basically handles the following tasks:
- Calibration of injector nozzles and -valves
- Steady state and dynamic flow measurements on test bed
SYSTEM DESCRIPTIONThe AVL PLU 131 is a Precision Flowmeter with integrated signal processing. When a PC is connected to the serial interface following values will be displayed:
- Instantaneous consumption [l/h]
- Measurement time [s]
- Average value of consumption [l/h]
- Standard deviation in %
- Number of measuring values for sliding average calculation
For a statistical analysis of the measuring values the standard deviation of each measurement is displayed graphically. Measuring time and number of measurement for averaging can be set by the user via PC. The software for the A/S module can be configured at user's discretion. Via pulse outputs RS 422 and frequency output the measuring value is transformed into a frequency and carried to the evaluation and display unit, like computer, frequency counter, and similar devices where they are processed, linearised, and displayed. The factory default calibration is based on test stands that have been certified by the German Federal Institute for Physics and Technology (PTB). Therefore the measuring results can be reconverted into national standards.

The PLU 4000, in combination with a PC or with a host computer, serves as an intelligent and configurable analysis system for AVL FLOW fuel flow meters and measurement systems.
