India Technical Centre Delhi

The AVL Technical Centre in India, has been established in 2002 to allow AVL to serve its Indian clients more effectively.
The Technical Centre is located in the industrial district of Gurgaon, near Delhi. The facility is designed to contain eight engine test cells, a chassis dynamometer for passenger cars and one for two and three wheelers. The test cells are equipped for emission measurements and are instrumented with latest AVL equipment.

The resources and facilities located here allows AVL to:

  • Conduct a full range of powertrain design development and validation programs;
  • Work with local and international component and system suppliers;
  • Offer India-specific support during the production preparation process at customer site;
  • Provide a full range of training, application and other on-site support activities covering all AVL powertrain activities to Indian enterprises, foreign joint ventures and wholly owned foreign companies.


The following facilities are available:

  • A wide range of comprehensive, state-of-the-art engine development test beds covering applications from two-wheelers to heavy-duty truck and tractor engine;
  • Fully certified chassis dynamometers for Sports Utility Vehicles, passenger car and two and three wheeler applications with advanced emission testing systems for petrol, Diesel and gas;
  • An extensive validation test centre designed to carry out essential engine testing tasks quickly and effectively, able to meet the demands of today's accelerated engine programs.


AVL List Technical Centre in India has a fully qualified engineering staff with wide experience from all segments of the internal combustion engine field. The team, which derives its extensive experience from industrial companies as well as component and system suppliers, is ready to respond to the requirements of individual client programs.

Additional support is provided by the worldwide network of AVL Technical Centres and AVL's world leading Instrumentation & Test systems Division. This pool of in-house expertise and resources ensures rapid response to customer requirements.

The following equipment have been installed in the first stage:

  • Passenger car chassis dynamometer (emission testing)
  • 2/3-wheeler chassis dynamometer (emission testing)
  • One test cell for small engines, eddy current dyno, max. 40 kW
  • One test cell tractor engines, AFA, max. 160 kW
  • One test cell for passenger car engines, eddy current dyno, max. 80 kW
  • Emission system serving the chassis dynamometers and engine test beds
  • Utility systems for the above test facilities
  • Workshop for support of test facilities containing most important machine tools and welding equipment
  • Offices for about 35 persons
