Fibre Optics Pick-up 365R

Application Example 365R

Mark Structure Example - Either 360 or 720 marks

Angle Encoder 365R Special Racing Solution

AVL also supplies a customer-specific variant specifically for racing applications, Angle Encoder 365R. The reflection principle is: The optical fibre head is fitted with transmission and receiver lenses and bonded into a customer-designed mounting. In the 365R too, the sensor head and the electronics are physically separated. The window of the optical fibre head is directed radially or axially at the mark track of the crank angle flange. The infrared light is reflected there and bounces back into the window. The evaluation electronics are the same as those of Angle Encoder 365X.

More Information

The particular advantage for users is that with the Angle Encoder 365R, no additional marker disk has to be fitted on the crank shaft, which means that the crank shaft is not subject to any additional mass/mass inertia. Only original rotating parts are used. When it comes to making the mark track on the flange, it is important on the one hand that the trigger mark and angle marks are the correct length to obtain the best light intensity ratio for the trigger threshold. On the other hand, the arrangement of the trigger mark and angle marks in relation to one another also has to be correct to ensure the lowest possible sensitivity to relative motion between the mark track and the optical head.

AVL also provides application support for construction and for machining the angle marks to the crank shaft wheel to ensure acceptable signal quality during operation.
