AVL DynoSpiritThe DynoSpirit series is a family of foot-mounted or hanging-mounted synchronous motors specially designed to test hybrid engines as well as engines where the original exhaust system is installed.
Applications- Highly suitable for steady state, transient and high dynamic tests
- Vehicle and Driver simulation – Driveability
- Hybrid engine testing
- Passenger car engine emission testing with original exhaust pipe
- Quality control in petrol and diesel engine production
- Fuel and lubrication tests using internal combustion engines
- Endurance tests in the area of engine component development
- Single cylinder, motorcycle, passenger car and light truck engine test beds (incl. anechoic tests)
- Components testing, converter testing

- Very small motor dimensions allow the installation of the original exhaust system below the dynamometer
- Very low rotor inertia and high torque linearity for high dynamic vehicle and driver simulation
- Improved torque measurement accuracy compared to induction (asynchronous) foot mounted motors thanks to a higher rotor efficiency with lower temperature drift
- Possibility to make zero mass simulation with connected ICE to run “true” idle (optional)
- Possibility to test hybrid engines with fast and accurate torque control around zero speed
- Highest torque response by rotor flux-vector-control of the stator current
- Top speed gradient by very low inertia
- Shortest installation time because of pre-commissioned components

- Foot or hanging mounted compact design
- Forced air cooling with air filters
- Very low inertia and high speed gradient
- High torque measurement accuracy thanks to a high efficiency/low temperature drift on the rotor
- Winding temperature monitoring
- Bearing temperature monitoring
- Grease lubricated bearings
- Speed encoder with absolute angular position information.
- In line Torque Meter HBM T10FS or T12
- Modular design of IGBT power modules
- Mains supply power factor cosφ = 1
- Rotor-flux Vector Control of the stator current provides fast torque response (less than < 3 ms)
- Noise free digital interface to the dyno controller
