FIRE Main program: Co-simulation AVL FIRE / AVL HYDSIM

Through the implementation of the AVL Code Coupling Interface (ACCI) in AVL HYDSIM, v2009 offers the possibility of executing a co-simulation of AVL FIRE and AVL HYDSIM in order to predict accurately the forces on the needle of an injection nozzle and the needle lift respectively.

In coupling mode the simulation is controlled by AVL HYDSIM. FIRE is started at needle lift opening and finishes its regular part at needle closing. Outside this interval FIRE is running in a very efficient mode without exchanging data with the 1D code. Whenever coupled FIRE is delivering the forces on the needle, spatially averaged pressure and temperature below the interface boundary as well as the computed massflow through needle seat area and each injector orifice.

HYDSIM provides the needle lift, pressure and temperature above the interface boundary. As a result the needle lift prediction in HYDSIM can be improved on the basis of the 3D FIRE data. In return the HYDSIM results improve the quality of the FIRE simulation regarding discharge rate.
