AVL Variable Temperature Sealed Housing Evaporative Determination - SHED

Increasingly higher demands within the field of automotive emissions testing involve complete Vehicle Evaporative Emissions Analysis.

A major part of the environmental hydrocarbon impact is caused by vehicle fuel evaporation, mainly via the fuel system of the vehicle. For certification and development tests gas tight SHED chambers are needed, to be able to measure these emissions according to standard methods (e.g. Europe: EEC-norms, USA: EPA, CARB).

The AVL SHED equipment complies with all the latest regulations, as follows:

US-EPA

  • Diurnal evaporative emission test (40 CFR 86.133-96)
  • Hot soak test (40 CFR 86.138-96)

California Air Resource Board (CARB)

  • Diurnal evaporative emission test (State of California Air Resource Board “California Evaporative Emission standards and Test Procedures for 001 and Subsequent Model Motor Vehicles”)
  • Hot soak evaporative emission test (State of California Air Resource Board “California Evaporative Emission standards and Test Procedures for 001 and Subsequent Model Motor Vehicles”)

EU2000 (European Union)

  • Evaporative emission test (Directive 98/69/EC)
  • Hot soak test (Directive 98/69/EC)
