AVL - 'AVL Particle Counter™' – Highly Sensitive Measurements

One of the particular challenges of development work is the necessity to rapidly develop devices which meet the latest standards and enable measurements for statutory limits which will be applicable in the future. The “AVL Particle Counter” is perfectly suited to help developers demonstrate exactly these abilities.

The “AVL Particle Counter” is a complete solution consisting of a dilution system and a condensation particle counter which meets the latest legal requirements and can also be used for research and development tasks. The device measures the number concentration of all non-volatile particles from exhaust emissions and complies with the currently applicable ECE R83 legislation which also includes the requirement to measure the particle number per kilometer. The dilution system is a two-stage diluter containing an evaporation unit with a dilution rate range of 10 to 20,000 with excellent linearity. Due to this technology the system is able to take sample gases from a CVS system, from a partial flow dilution tunnel or directly from the raw exhaust.

The "AVL Particle Counter” has been designed according to the latest requirements of particle measurement and guarantees an excellent measurement quality as the primary diluter is mounted directly at the dilution tunnel. In addition, the compact measuring unit saves valuable test bed space and can be installed on the test bed and started within only 30 minutes. Thanks to this compact configuration and different interfaces the "AVL Particle Counter" can be ideally integrated into overall test bed systems. Leak check, zero point check and linearity check are completely integrated into the measuring unit and guarantee reliable measurements between calibration intervals.

Of course, AVL calibrates the devices according to the latest applicable legal requirements and offers calibration as well as the required calibration equipment if necessary. The specific diluter technology provides long-term availability at low cleaning and maintenance costs.
