AVL CAMEO Transmission™

Increase Productivity in Transmission Calibration

More and more vehicle variants. More and more number of gears. More and more driving modes. More and more degrees of comfort. Keep step with the amount of calibration work to be done! AVL CAMEO Transmission helps you to achieve this by improving and automating the calibration process itself.

The efficiency of a vehicle in reaching CO2 emissions targets is vital. As a result, technical complexity and the number of application variants of automated transmissions is rapidly increasing reflected in the number of gears, driving modes and degrees of comfort. These new technologies are leading to an explosion in the required investment for calibration projects, which a company can no longer carry out by using traditional calibration methods and outsourcing projects. The productivity in the transmission calibration process must be radically increased to keep step with the amount of work to be done. This can only be achieved by improving and automating the calibration process itself through front-loading.

AVL has developed CAMEO Transmission in cooperation with ZF Friedrichshafen. This breakthrough tool allows an automated shift quality optimization on chassis dynamometers ensuring:

Reduced Number of Prototypes

A reduction in measurement time and therefore in the number of prototypes needed. Unmanned operation allows night and weekend test runs.

Objective Shift Quality Evaluation

The objective shift quality analysis, as obtained from the drivability analysis tool AVL DRIVE™, ensures the measurability, reproducibility and traceability of a shift behavior.

ONE TOOL

The integration of the complete calibration workflow into ONE TOOL improves the efficiency and the consistency of the calibration process.

AVL CAMEO Transmission™ is a part of the AVL solution for an automated transmission calibration on the chassis dynos (ACT – Automated Calibration for Transmission). The vehicle is connected to a frame via a longitudinal force measurement equipment. CAMEO Transmission controls a robot via a Chassis Dyno Interface to make the desired gear shifts and vary the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) parameters that influence the shift quality. The AVL solution also includes AVL-DRIVE™ for Transmission, which identifies and evaluates gear shift quality. Once the TEST RUN is completed, CAMEO Transmission optimizes the TCU parameters in order to reach the shift quality requirements (comfort, sportiness, shift delay etc.).

CAMEO Transmission has simplified the test plan and test run on chassis dyno systems by using an embedded VEHICLE MODEL, a TRANSMISSION DoE WIZARD and an intelligent test optimization procedure. Moreover, any desired calibration variant can be generated without additional measurement effort.

AVL CAMEO Transmission and the Calibration Workflow

AVL CAMEO Transmission supports the whole transmission calibration workflow through three steps with dedicated features.
