Hans List Award 2008 Award Ceremony 2008

Award Ceremony 2008

The 50 000 Euro Hans List Award was presented for the very first time as part of this year’s FISITA. The prize, awarded by AVL List GmbH, is aimed at promoting engineers with innovative new approaches – often the driving force behind technical progress. It also commemorates the great pioneering developer of internal combustion engines, Professor DDr. Hans List.

Renowned international experts from many different fields in the engine and power train development sector have expressed an interest in the prize. Engineers working for various TIER 1 suppliers and OEMs entered their developments for the Hans List Award, presented with the support of ABA-Invest in Austria.

After examining all the entries, an international jury of experts selected Stefan Dengler as the winner. He received his award from the CEO of AVL, Helmut List for his development “2-stage Variable Valve Switching System” (AVS).

The Hans List Award is presented to people who have excelled at an international level with outstanding and innovative work in the development of vehicle power trains. The aim of the award is to motivate young engineers to put their innovative ideas into practice and thus drive forward the development of vehicle power trains.

ABA-Invest in Austria is supporting the Hans List Award as part of the international marketing initiative “Forschungsplatz Österreich” [“Austria: Research Capital”], which highlights the superb conditions the country offers for research and development.
