AVL System Know-How in Fuel Consumption Measurement

AVL has considerable experience in the design of test cell fuel systems and this is offered for customer consideration as an AVL service to ensure optimum fuel system performance. The fuel system will be considered from the point of entry into the test cell, up to and including (when applicable), the return fuel line from the engine. The scope of work should consider all influential factors in the integration of fuel consumption measurement systems on the test bed and tailor it to the respective specific conditions:

Particular importance is attached to the layout of the fuel consumption measurement system such as fuel pipework, adaptation to the various mixture preparation systems and fuels. Thus if required our specialists can assume responsibility for the optimum integration of measurement systems into the test bed.
For this we can offer you the following services:

Consulting

  • On-site analysis and evaluation of customer requirements and applications
  • Analysis and assessment of test cell infrastructure
  • Design of fuel supply pressure (incoming to test cell)
  • Design of engine fuel supply and return circuits
  • Design of conditioning system (heating and cooling, where applicable)
  • Integration with the test bed environment
  • Design of interfaces (hardware and software)
  • Feasibility study
  • Evaluation of the total measurement uncertainty of the fuel system
  • Fuel system risk assessment
  • FMEA
  • Planning & engineering including, for example, parts lists for installation materials and layout drawing (test cell-specific, in respect of dimensions and design, etc.) if required.

Start-up & Operation Support

  • New integrated system set-up
  • New application on existing system - optimization and improvement of system performance
  • Introduction of the AVL instrumentation to the operators
  • Parameterization of the instrument for optimum use
  • Recommendations in a written report for the optimum use of the fuel measurement system for specific applications
