The AVL Oil Consumption Meter 406 is a compact, mobile measurement system that allows quick automatic measurement of IC engine oil consumption with little effort. The oil is always pumped off either completely or to a defined level through a modified oil dipstick or the oil drain plug. It is then stored in a special tank in the AVL measurement system and weighed with a high-precision pressure sensor. The oil can also be pumped off while the engine is running because only a part of the total volume is needed for the measurement. That significantly reduces the measurement time compared with the standard drain and weigh method. The oil is fed back into the engine after the measurement.
The device can either be operated from its user-friendly control panel, from the automation system or by PC software.
