GEM 201L AdvancedEmission Automation for Light-Duty Vehicle Testing AVL GEM 201L Advanced is a modular software solution for automated emission testing on chassis test cells. It is an open system using windows architecture and offers a high degree of flexibility allowing easy on-site configuration and parameterization.
AVL GEM 201L Advanced includes all necessary reports and calculations for certification testing as well as modal raw gas measurement. The integrated powerful reporting tool ECC-Workbench allows the customer to generate test reports and layouts and to modify calculations according to the latest regulations. All configuration data, test data and report data are stored into an ASAM-ODS database. The device configuration supports nearly all common emission devices on the market.
The GEM 201L Advanced device handler ASC supports all standard communication protocols such as ASAM-AK or ASAM-GDI and also other common interface protocols such as HORIBA MEXA7000 and MEXA9000. For data exchange and data sharing, GEM 201L Advanced can be interfaced via Ethernet connection to the laboratory host computer or any other chassis test cell or AVL PUMA Open host computer.

Application AreasThe GEM 201L Advanced supports a wide range of emission applications on the chassis dynamometer such as certification, quality control testing, end of line testing or R&D. The typical emission applications are:
| - Certification
- End of Line
- EURO I – IV
- NMOG
- Quality Control
- ULEV/SULEV
- Cold CO
- NMHC
| | - Diesel Particulate
- Gasoline Particulate
| | | - Dilute Modal
- MidBed Cat
- Bag to Modal Correlation
- EGR Rate
- Catalyst Efficiency
- Tailpipe Modal
- CO2 Tracer
- Dilution Air Measurement
|
The test reports and calculations are prepared for the typical fuels, depending on system configuration:
- Gasoline
- Diesel
- CNG/LPG
- RME
- Alcohol
Tests can be run in three different modes:
- Certification Mode: Performs the analyze sequences according to regulations (US, European, Chinese, Japanese, etc)
- Standard Mode: Executes the certification analysis but does not perform the zero and span checks
- Simple Mode: Where no analyzer adjustments and checks are performed. The standard and simple modes are usually used to save time and span gases.
