The mechanical development strategy at AVL aims for an ideal interaction between experimental and simulation methods. Supported by reliability engineering methods a consistent methodology is applied which allows a time and cost optimized development process from concept to start of production.
AVL uses a wide spectrum of experimental methods, starting with component and subsystem rig tests, continuing with the functional development on standard and various dedicated test beds like e.g. tilt test bed and climatic test chamber. Durability tests are carried out either according to AVL’s test procedures or to customer’s standards. Finally in-vehicle tests are carried out to ensure a proper integration.
