Measuring the crankcase gases, also known as blow-by is becoming more and more important. In view of the increased complexity and power of modern engines, high demands are nowadays also placed on blow-by meters.
The measurement method used by the AVL Blow-by Meter is based on the orifice measurement principle which permits the blow-by gas to be measured in both directions of flow. That enables us to determine the gas even in heavily pulsating flows and also when there is partial vacuum in the crankcase. Measurement-related soiling, as occurs, for example, with gas meters, does not occur with this measurement method which guarantees high availability on the test bed.
