Research CooperationsIn addition to the business with customers all over the world, AVL is active in various research and development cooperations on national as well as international level.
This includes on national level the cooperation with the Automotive Cluster Styria, the Austrian Research Promotion Agency, the Christian Doppler Research Association, the Austrian Centres of Competence, regional and national governments as well as other individual research cooperations.
On international level it comprises in particular the cooperation with the various European research associations like EARPA (European Automotive Research Partners Association), EUCAR (automotive manufacturers), ERTICO (intelligent transport systems), CLEPA (supply industry), CONCAWE (fuel industry) and other associations as well as the links to the European Commission and the European Parliament. In particular AVL is one of the leading members of the European Technology Platform for Road Transport 'ERTRAC' and involved in several other ETPs such as ARTEMIS (Embedded Systems) and the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Platform.
Since 1984 the EU has been funding collaborative research and development activities via Framework Programmes for R&D. AVL has been successfully participating in many projects as partner or coordinator.

European Autmotive Research Partner’s AssociationEARPA is the association of automotive R&D organisations. It brings together the most prominent independent R&D providers in the automotive sector throughout Europe. Its membership counts at present 26 members ranging from large and small commercial organisations to national institutes and universities.
ERTRAC European Road Transport Research Advisory Council ERTRAC is the European Technology Platform for Road Transport. It was established to mobilise all stakeholders, develop a shared vision, and ensure timely, co-ordinated and efficient application of research resources to meet the continuing challenges of road transport and European competitiveness.
