Simulation We have extended AVL’s simulation tools for specific application on complete fuel cell systems or single components. The codes are developed for either in-depth components analysis e.g. 3-dimensional CFD simulation of gas and liquid distribution in single cells, (sub-)system lay-out design or for real time application in control algorithm and on hardware-in-the loop test benches.
Engineering services- Three dimensional CFD studies of existing fuel cell designs and parameter studies for optimisation (including liquid water transport phenomena, for PEMFC).
- Model development from 0D up to 3D-CFD codes for fuel cells
- Customer specific adaptation of simulation tools

- FEM analysis on temperature distribution and mechanical stress
Fuel Cell Simulation Tools- 3D CFD simulation for PEMFC including electro-chemical processes, media flows, heat production and energy flows (AVL Fire).
- System simulation tools with open interfaces for both PEMFC and SOFC systems (AVL Cruise, Advisor, AVL Boost)
- FEM analysis of PEMFC including heat conduction and mechanical stress analysis
- Fuel cell system components models based on C and Matlab/Simulink libraries optimised for real time application
