19th International AVL Conference „Engine & Environment“The Hybrid Full, Mild, Micro – Which System will Win the Race? Powertrain Configurations Unlimited? Approximately 340 experts from 17 nations came to the by now 19th AVL conference “Engine & Environment” which took place at the Helmut-List-Halle in Graz on September 6 and 7, 2007. High-ranking speakers from the automobile industry, from science and politics examined the topic of hybrid systems from different angles and thus guaranteed an exciting conference about an up-to-the-minute issue. The focus of the conference was on the conceptual design, development and the introduction of series production of hybrid systems. Prof. Helmut List, CEO of AVL said: “Hybrid systems create new possibilities on the automobile market with regard to driving experience, cost effectiveness and environment.”AVL has been active in the development of hybrid drives for over 15 years and has expanded capacity significantly in recent years to meet a rapidly increasing demand for development and testing solutions. Over 70 hybrid powertrain development and testing projects have been completed by AVL engineering centres in Europe and the USA for customers around the globe. The specifically developed “Hybrid Development Platform” allows AVL experts from the fields of powertrain engineering, simulation and testing to once more prove their synergy potential and know-how which ranges from combustion engines to control, electronics and transmission also includes integration into the entire vehicle.
Conference "Engine and Environment" since 1988 |
In the year 1988 AVL established “Engine and Environment” as an independent, neutral and international platform. Their goal was to promote the interdisciplinary discussion of major issues of engine and vehicle technology in a broader social context - environment and energy issues as well as legal background. Main issues of modern engine and vehicle technology are explored beyond the headlines of the day and new approaches for the future are formulated.
Outlook on next year: Anniversary conference 20 years Engine & Environment September 11-12, 2008 regarding the topic „120 g CO2 /km - What about driving fun and costs?”
