The AVL angle encoders 365 are a family of optical sensors, highly precise and suited for indicating measurements and rotatary analysis – even in racing, where the requirements for the synchronous crank angle acquisition are extremely high. Here, the speed is 20,000 rpm and the mechanical acceleration reaches 1,000g easily.
Due to the optical signal transmission, influences such as mechanical, electrical and thermal from the engine onto the sensor are not of importance. The special angle encoder 365R works according to the principle “massless marker disk” – especially important in racing applications as well as in small engines – the marker trace is applied to a rotating part of the crank shaft itself by means of laser cutting.
