Shot to Shot Fuel Measurements with AVL 131 STS and Indi-Advanced on the Fired Single Cylinder Gasoline Engine

While parameterising the engine characteristic in ECU, the developer expects further complementary measurement data along with a reliable pressure indicating, e.g. to assess time continuous flame signals in connection with cycle precise single shot masses as well as their flow rate characteristics.

Using the AVL STS, it is now possible to determine the single shot masses and their flow rate characteristics precisely and cycle resolved in speed ranges of up to 20,000 rpm.

With these indicating data, Visiolution results and now also single shot masses and their rate characteristics can be related precisely to the crank angle.
The usual IndiCom functions are used to work with the measurement results, combining the data of the corresponding devices ideally.

Benefits for the user?
Due to precise illustration of the causal coherences between injection procedure (shot mass, rate characteristics), combustion pressure curve, optical combustion characteristics and emission formation it becomes obvious, if the development potentials are used ideally respectively which further improvements could be achieved.
