AVL Takes Over Le Moteur ModerneThe world-wide operating high-tech company AVL in Graz, Austria, has signed a purchase agreement with Le Moteur Moderne (LMM), a renowned French service provider in the field of powertrain systems. For AVL, this is a further step towards an improved customer orientation. The extension of its local presence corresponds to the increasing importance of France on the worldwide automobile market. As the management puts it, AVL and LMM will complement one another in order to satisfy the requirements of French customers regarding powertrain systems in an efficient manner.The company Le Moteur Moderne (LMM) in Palaiseau (near Paris) was established in 1951 and possesses many years of experience in the field of powertrain systems, ranging from research, construction, simulation, predevelopment and series development to application and testing. As a local contact for the French automobile industry, LMM will represent the global AVL engineering network and will also integrate services from the global tech centers of AVL. LMM has a staff of 120 people and achieved a turnover of 13.5 million Euros in 2006.
AVL is the world’s largest privately-owned and independent company for the development of powertrain systems with combustion engines as well as instrumentation and test systems. The high-tech company AVL employs 3,640 people worldwide. Turnover in 2006 was 537 million Euro.
