The cooperation of AVL and Graz University of Technology with regard to transmission testing offers efficient solutions for system and component testing for conventional through to hybrid and electric powertrains. Engineering meets Research, a Cooperation for the Future.

The new AVL-TU Graz Transmission Center closes the gap between basic research and applied serial development, from conventional to fully electrified powertrains. The dynamic tilt testbed is equipped for lubrication tests (varying tilting positions, motor speeds, temperatures, etc.). Specific strength tests are carried out on state-of-the-art AVL high-load testbeds, e.g. torsion stiffness to analyze the effect on durability. For data transfer, direct data bus between AVL Headquarter and Graz University of Technology available. The small and dedicated team executes complex transmission tests with higher flexibility.

The Added value for the customer:

  • Experience in R&D as well as serial development of complex powertrains
  • The mix of modern testbeds in combination with highly skilled testbed operators and engineers in a small, dedicated unit ensures innovative, flexible, reliable and fast testing.
  • Cost efficiency thanks to variety of testbeds: small R&D to high-load testbeds
  • The state-of-the art infrastructure with AVL technology and specialized testing equipment allows new and specific analyses of future transmission types
