Prestigious SAE Award for AVL Executive Vice President Robert Fischer

Major honor for AVL Executive Vice President: Robert Fischer was presented last night with the prestigious SAE/Timken-Howard Simpson Automotive Transmission and Driveline Innovation Award in the context of the SAE World Congress held in Detroit, Michigan. The global award recognizes engineers for outstanding contributions in the area of automotive transmission and driveline. Robert Fischer pointed out that achievements worthy of such an honor would never be possible without the help of a supportive environment. Fischer continued, "Thanks to his strategic orientation, CEO Helmut List has managed to expand AVL's know-how and expertise in the areas of transmission, electrification and software and position AVL as a leading company in the field of drive systems."

Fischer is so far the seventh person in the world to receive the transmission award. In the spirit of investing in the future, Robert Fischer is donating his honorarium to an international program at the Technology University of Graz that supports students going abroad to further their studies.

SAE International is a global association of more than 138,000 engineers and technical experts in the aerospace, automotive and commercial-vehicle industries and is dedicated to the advancement of mobility engineering.

Innovative solutions in transmission development

More than 300 transmission engineers are currently working at AVL on solutions for passenger cars, heavy-duty and off-road transmissions worldwide. Comprising innovative concepts, such as the modular heavy-duty dual clutch transmission or the SOP development of a variety of transmission types, AVL's development expertise covers a vast scope of areas. In providing special services, such as the optimization of noise development, software development and calibration, AVL additionally supports the success of its customers. More than 120 vehicle models with AVL transmission calibrations have meanwhile successfully reached serial production.
