AVL has been developing specialists for several decades and is in terms of apprentice training one of the top companies in Austria. The apprenticeship training at AVL has already received several awards. Newcomer Week

Right at the start of your apprenticeship, you will also get to know the other apprentices and the company better. With a personal setting and an individual schedule, we make it easier for you to settle in at AVL.

Internships Abroad

As an international company, we support you to gain work experience outside of Austria - if you want to. We support you in finding the ideal area and the ideal country for your internship, help you with planning and processing and even take over the costs for it, up to 100%.

Apprenticeship with Matura

During your apprenticeship, you can also complete the Matura. We offer preparatory courses for German and English, which take place partly during working hours and partly in your free time - always on Mondays from 3 to 8 pm. All courses take place on our premises.

Bonus Payments

Good grades at school pay off, dedication and good performance are rewarded. "Excellent" and "good" successes at vocational school (Berufsschule) and in the final apprenticeship examination (Lehrabschlussprüfung) are rewarded with bonus payments.

Canteen and Food

At the Graz site, there are currently two canteens where fresh food is prepared daily and four menus and a varied salad buffet are offered at reduced staff prices. As far as products are concerned, we focus on regional food and beverages from Austria (often from Styria) and the increased use of organic food.

Further Education and Coaching

We want to prepare you for your career in the best possible way and have developed a comprehensive training program for this purpose. In addition to training in the areas of personality and communication, the program includes English courses and theoretical lessons for technical apprenticeships, that prepare you for vocational school or the final apprenticeship exam.

Health and Sports

Our "Smart & Fit through your apprenticeship" program, which was specially designed for our apprentices, is about acquiring health skills in the areas of activity, nutrition, mental, physical and stress and then applying them in the form of a health project. You also have the opportunity to join one of the more than 30 AVL company sports clubs at any time.

Application Process

Have you decided to start a successful professional future with an apprenticeship at AVL? Then here are a few tips for you on how best to go about it:

First of all take your time find out which of the offered professions match with your interests, ideas and talents.
Create a user profile in the AVL job portal. Important: Please fill in all the fields and provide all the necessary documents (letter of application, CV and copies of your last two school reports). This is important so that we can process your application.
We do not have fixed deadlines for applications - they will be reviewed until all positions are filled.
If you are selected, you will in a first step be invited to take an entrance test (based on your knowledge from school). After this test, there will also be a personal interview so that we can get to know you personally.
If you are shortlisted, we will in a further step invite you to a short "practical check" (1-2 days, depending on the apprenticeship). During this "practical check" you will also have the opportunity to get to know the company better and to learn more about the practical activities of the apprenticeship.
Having passed this step successfully (we have selected you as a candidate for an apprenticeship), you will be offered an apprenticeship contract. If you are under 18, the contract must be signed also by your parents (or legal guardians).

Then you have made it! On your first working day (always the first Monday in October), we then welcome all newcomers with a "Newcomer Week", which is intended to help all new apprentices get to know the company and the other colleagues.

Apprenticeship Compensation

The apprentice income at AVL is based on the collective agreement for companies in the automotive industry. An increase is always linked to the annual collective agreement negotiations in autumn.
