Life in Graz through the ages – Architecture,
daily life and fashion of five different ages

Places that act as windows to Graz’s past: a whole variety of styles unfolds on the way through the historic centre of Graz. These different periods of architecture reflect different life conditions, social backgrounds and various forms of expression in fashion.

On our interesting walk around town, we encounter Renaissance, Baroque, Empire style, Art Nouveau and the style of the 1920s. We won’t forget to stop at Graz’s oldest farmers’ market on the Kaiser Josef Platz where a delicious little snack awaits us.

The first part of our 3-hour trip through the centuries ends in
the courtyard of the Museum im Palais in the Sackstrasse.
Enjoy your lunch at PRATO IM PALAIS, Graz’s latest favourite restaurant, at the heart of the enchanting historic centre of Graz. Whoever has enough time and energy left is welcome to accompany us to the exhibition “Die Zeit – Vom Augenblick zur Ewigkeit” (Time – from the Moment to Eternity) at the Museum im Palais. Alternatively, we could pop into Kastner & Öhler’s Department Store nearby. Being a unique Graz institution, K&Ö is a must. Once the largest department store in the Austrian Empire, today’s modern shopping paradise boasts magnificent views over Graz from its new roof terrace.

09:45 Departure Helmut-List-Halle
17:00 Return Helmut-List-Halle
