Anyone who brings a passion for technology and a love of innovation will find exciting career opportunities at AVL, Julia Fritz is convinced. She knew early on that technology was her world — and after attending the HTL Mössingerstraße in Klagenfurt, she went on to study electrical engineering in Graz. “I wanted to understand more precisely how physical and mathematical relationships work in technology and to further develop myself in that direction.” After completing her master's degree in electrical engineering and business, she applied for a position as Solution Engineer at the globally operating technology company — and has now been part of the team for a year.
International Collaboration
“AVL is a pioneer in many fields. That intrigued me,” Julia recalls. Her varied tasks include the design of test systems for batteries — from the individual cell to the complete battery pack for cars and trucks. It’s not just about technology: Julia Fritz coordinates international projects with colleagues from AVL affiliates around the world and tailors technical solutions to the individual needs of each customer. “My work is very diverse. In just one year, I’ve been able to get to know many different fields and contribute in each of them,” she emphasizes. It’s this variety and the international environment that make the job so exciting. At the same time, she highlights the corporate culture at AVL: “My colleagues are consistently open, and the atmosphere is relaxed — you can also connect outside of work during shared activities.”
Looking Ahead / Looking to the Future
AVL is one of the world’s leading mobility technology companies in development, simulation, and testing in the automotive industry. Energy storage for power grids, electromobility, rail transport, and shipping are also increasingly moving into focus. This is reflected in Julia’s day-to-day work: “We have to identify developments such as energy storage systems or new vehicle charging standards early on and respond to them.”
Her advice to young people interested in technology and a career in the STEM field: “You have to stay curious and flexible, be able to persevere — especially during your studies — and be capable of networking, especially in internationally active companies.” She herself is the best example that technology not only inspires but also offers a wide range of career opportunities — especially at a company like AVL.
