Visiolution Optical Combustion Analysis - Testing Solutions for Commercial On Road

Efficient, clean combustion
Visiolution Optical Combustion Analysis
A clear vision of combustion
Understanding the behavior and attributes of combustion is key to improving efficiency, delivering performance and reducing emissions. AVL’s Visiolution range of optical combustion analysis tools provides a high-definition insight that can influence the entire development process.
Our Visiolution portfolio includes the fiber optic-based technology X-FEM VISIO and VisioScope 2.0 products. Backed up by the AVL X-ion™ combustion data acquisition system, it enables OEMs to understand combustion events under a range of scenarios and powertrain configurations.
Fine Tuning Combustion
AVL’s optical measurement technology enables OEMs to gain a clear picture of combustion inside the engine. This dynamic powertrain development tool aids in the optimization of fuel consumption, mixture formation, exhaust emissions and knock and preignition behavior. This allows legislative obligations to be met while still maximizing performance and driveability.
The Visiolution Portfolio
The visiolution portfolio consists of two product families, each of which serve different purposes. These are:
X-FEM VISIO
Our X-FEM VISIO uses fiber optic technology to record the light coming from the combustion event and analyzes it using the data acquisition system, AVL X-ion™. With this technology you can analyze phenomena like flame propagation, knocking combustion and the pre-ignition behaviour of the engine.
VisioScope
VisioScope optically records carburetion, fuel injection, soot formation and temperature distribution. This is achieved with an endoscope and camera.
VisioService
At AVL we not only sell the products from the Visiolution product line but offer measurement services and data evaluation based on AVL optical measurement equipment.
Additional benefits include:
- Measurement under highly transient situations such as cold start/tip in
- Ideal for exploring injection strategies
- Supports engineering of mixture formation
- Supports investigation of critical emission cycles
- Aids the evaluation of flame propagation and detection of knock limit
- Detects root causes of irregular combustion and evaluates thermal risk
