9 F O C U S a 22 % reduction in CO2 emissions and new possibilities for a diverse range of body styles for modern and attractive vehicles: large wheels, four corner wheels, low bonnet and low driving position. It also provides increased safety, driving pleasure and comfort. The new EMP2 platform (short for Efficient Modular Platform 2) is expected to cover 50 % of total production in the long term. The first vehicles to feature these innovations are our successful vehicles: Citroën C4 Picasso and the Peugeot 308 “Car of the Year 2014”. Our module policy, applied on EMP2 allowed a large components community between these two cars. The next step in PSA Peugeot Citroën platform strategy is to develop EMP1 for B and C segments and, on the long run, to have only 2 major platforms, EMP2 and EMP1. ‹F›: PSA Peugeot-Citroën together with Chinese partners is focusing on the Chinese market and expanding their R&D activities there. Could you give us an idea which development activities those are? ‹Gilles Le Borgne›: The PSA R&D capacities in China rely on the Techcenter of Shanghai and on the R&D department of the two JVs we joint- > ly managed with our partners in Wuhan and Shenzhen. This structure allows us to develop cars, dedicated for the Asia markets from advanced styling to their SOP. The stake is to better understand the mega trends of the market, the expectations in driving experience of our customers, to anticipate the local regulations, and to translate these data in the style of the cars, keeping the DNA of our brands, in specific tunings, in dedicated tests, and adapt technologies to stick with the demands in terms of safety, consumption etc. Thanks to the success of this experience, we have decided together with our partner DFM, to increase our capacities by setting up a common tech center which will be able to develop worldwide cars firstly launched in China, and worldwide technologies from Asia. For instance, the The electric vehicle Peugeot iOn has an autonomy of up to 150 km per cycle. consequence of the appetence of the market for sophisticated infotainment systems has pushed the leader suppliers of this domain to locate their own technical teams in Asia. So we are currently increasing our local skills to be able to develop, complete infotainment chains from external services to innovative car HMI. ‹F›: Emotions play an important part in purchasing a car. Do you think that will stay the same in the future? ‹Gilles Le Borgne›: If many cars will be sold for their economy or their efficiency, our view is that desire will be a purchasing driver for a long. More than 1.2 million people went to Paris Motor Show and cars keep on being a part of dreams. It’s the reason why we built our innovation strategy on three pillars: Clean technologies in order to fulfill green housing and emissions stakes, Autonomous driving to improve safety, recover time in boring driving situations and bring connectivity into the car. And finally attractiveness to support the DNA of our brands. This last pillar is the development of innovations in line with expectations of our brands as technological suspensions for DS for the well- being-feeling on board, air bumps for Citroën to increase protection and new upper responsible materials for Peugeot.  < > The new HYbridAir powertrain is featured in both the Citroën C4 Cactus Airflow 2l (photo) and the Peugeot 208 HYbridAir 2l.
