SHAPING TOMORROW‘S TEST FACILITY TODAY > The test facility of the future from AVL‘s point of view. To help OEMs master the challenges of powertrain development, AVL is working on seven topics in an effort to create the test facility of the future. The areas AVL is focusing on range from modular building concepts to self-maintaining systems and voice-controlled test system operation. 2 2 F O C U S TEST FACILITY CONCEPTS DATA INTELLIGENCE SMART SERVICE ENGINEERING KNOW HOW INTERACTION AND COLLABORATION TEST FACTORY 2025+ VIRTUALIZATION SELF CONFIGURATION instrumentation & test systems The growing number of variants and the increasing electrification of the powertrain, combined with the mounting costs and time pressure, are leading to a tremendous rise in the scope of testing and the flexibility requirements which OEMs face in the development of sustain- able drive systems. Many OEMs are confronted with questions that demand simple and, above all, futureproof solutions: What kinds of propulsion technologies will be driving tomorrow‘s cars? Which other technologies will be necessary to develop such technologies efficiently? How flexible must future test facilities be? How can we harness the potential of the data? To prepare OEMs for the future, AVL has defined several topics that can help to shape the test facilities of the future. Kai Voigt, AVL Exec-
