2 5 F O C U S and validated in time. We assist our customers in their efforts to analyze, set up and optimize their processes and provide support from the integration of the testing environment to the effective roll-out. We additionally help our customers with training activities to build the required capabilities. ‹F›: What changes would you like to implement in the area of Calibration? ‹Schick›: First of all, we will be focusing heavily on semi-physical and physical models to lower calibration time and cost significantly. With our MoBEO method (model based engine optimization), for example, we have excellent technology for performing virtual emission and fuel consumption calibrations. Our calibration technique will be able to be used consistently in model, software, hardware-in-theloop environments, on the test bed and in the vehicle. The second factor that drives us is something we call “democratization:” The very sophisticated technique must be made as easy to operate as possible for it to reach lots of users. Thirdly, we need to achieve full consistency in the sets of calibration and measurement data across the entire process. From virtual calibration in the office all the way to the vehicle, our aim is to ensure full data consistency and traceability. And, fourthly, we will extend the range of application of our calibration methods and tools to include areas like steering and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), because Photos: Doris Sporer
