Description of Work Packages - EXHAUST AFTERTREATMENT CALIBRATION

Goal

DPF Temperature
Management

  • Reaching temperatures above 600°C for effective DPF regeneration.
  • Special internal combustion to reach maximum engine out temperature while keeping noise, response and emission level the same level as in normal vehicle operation.
  • Calibration of all environmental correction to guarantee a safe DPF operation during the vehicle life time.
  • Closed loop control for accurate temperature requirement.

DPF Temperature
Management

  • Detection of diesel particulate filter loading with various strategies such as differential pressure sensor and soot engine out model.
  • Ensuring the correct detection under all vehicle operation conditions.
  • Calibration of the required ash loading models.

DPF Soot Loading Model

  • Calibration of temperature, pressure and emission models for the exhaust system.

Exhaust Model

  • Development of the rich combustion for LNT purging modes.
  • Reaching efficient reductant rich gas composition for effective LNT operation.
  • Providing combustion mode changes without torque and noise variation.
  • Development of desulfation modes.

LNT Rich Combustion

  • Definition and development of LNT operation strategy to fulfill legislative emission norms and future off-cycle emission requirements.

LNT State Machine Definition

  • Commissioning and calibration of the urea supply system including level sensor, pressure build-up, heating, etc.
  • Calibration of tailpipe emission on chassis roller and the resulting calculation for real world driving condition.

SCR / SDPF

  • Performing accurate measurements of the SCR system on test bed to calibrate the SCR control software including map based catalyst models or physical models.
  • Definition of different operation modes of the SCR System and calibration of the adaption function to ensure long life stability and to comply with off-cycle emission requirements.
