Press Release: E-Supercar Manufacturer Rimac Automobili Trusts in AVL Testing Equipment

The Croatian sportscar manufacturer Rimac Automobili uses the battery test and emulation system AVL E-STORAGE BTE™ for the development of its electric high-performance vehicles. This way, the OEM meets its own high standards of quality. AVL, with its most modern technologies and tailor-made service, plays a significant role in contributing to a world of clean mobility.

Batteries, e-motors and inverters are the key components in modern powertrain configurations, such as hybrid, pure electric or fuel cell powered vehicles and have to be tested thoroughly before put into operation.

Mate Rimac, founder and CEO of Rimac Automobili, commented: “A technology company at its core, Rimac Automobili is highly vertically integrated, developing and manufacturing high-performance electric vehicles and high-tech systems and solutions for the automotive industry. Using AVL battery test systems enables us to maintain the highest quality standards of our products.”

Luigi Giordano, Global Business Segment Manager Electrification Test Systems, AVL: “Having the chance of supporting Rimac’s fast development cycle was a great honor for the AVL Electrification Team. We were aware of the challenges and supported Rimac with valuable product input for the advanced application area of high-performance batteries and powertrain systems.”

Rimac Automobili was founded in Sveta Nedelja near Zagreb, Croatia, and develops and produces high-performance electric vehicles, powertrains and battery systems. Rimac Automobili has 250 employees and is growing to become a full electrification partner to the global OEMs. Annual sales revenues reached EUR 6.2 million in 2016.

AVL is the world’s largest independent company for the development, simulation and testing of powertrains (hybrid, combustion engines, transmission, electric drive, batteries and software) for passenger cars, trucks and large engines. AVL has more than 8,600 employees all over the world. In 2016, sales revenues reached EUR 1.4 billion.

A steadily increasing number of vehicle features – such as remote diagnostics, telematics and infotainment – are using communication channels between vehicles and the cloud or other infrastructure. While the data exchange from, and to the car, provides a lot of new technological opportunities, these channels are also increasingly turning into cyberattack targets. The growing risk of a vehicle...
High-tech company AVL hosted the 29th edition of its trend conference “Engine & Environment” in Graz. As powertrain development is experiencing a phase of phenomenal dynamic change. The theme of this year’s conference was „Competition of Powertrain Systems to Minimize CO2 and Emissions 2020/2025“. Speeches on the subject were held by top-ranking representatives of vehicle manufacturers...
The safety of advanced driver assistance systems depends heavily on their ability to perceive the environment and draw the right conclusions. Objects like streets, buildings, trees, vehicles, pedestrians or animals have to be detected quickly in order to properly assess their future behavior and respond accordingly, e.g. brake in time. In the context of the "Dynamic Ground Truth" (DGT) research...
To satisfy the need for electric sedans, AVL provides innovative battery development solutions from concept to SOP. Customers benefit from a global development team with a broad network of suppliers, reliable simulation tools, validation processes implementable on AVL's in-house test systems and an extensive range of component and system knowledge. Batteries are fundamental to the future of...
AVL (hall 27, booth D62) and Greenlight Innovation Corp. (hall 27, booth D64) will show their combined expertise in fuel cell development at the Hannover Messe from April 24–28, 2017. In a presentation entitled “A Deep Look into the State-of the-Art HyCentA System Testbed”, insights into Europe’s most modern test infrastructure for fuel cell systems will be given. The lecture will be held at...
The 9th AVL International Commercial Powertrain Conference will be held on May 10 and 11, 2017 at Messe Congress Graz. This year’s focus is on “CO2 reduction and sustainable means of transportation” in the truck & bus, agricultural and construction equipment industries. Experts from all around the world will discuss what lies ahead in powertrain development and what can still be achieved with...
Technical innovation requires international teams with a broad range of abilities and approaches, and the acceptance that every single person can make a change. Seeking to include all members of our society, and working to spread a great radiance around the globe, the Special Olympics organization sends a strong signal in this direction. That was the reason why the high-tech company AVL decided...
AVL was awarded a contract by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for equipping another chassis dynamometer test cell at the National Vehicle and Fuel Laboratory (NVFEL) in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The new test cell, which is particularly designed to measure the smallest concentrations of vehicle emissions in accordance with EPA 40 CFR Part 1066 testing procedures, is a duplicate of one...
