AVL CRUISE™ M

AVL CRUISETM M is a  multi-disciplinary vehicle system simulation tool. It can be used in the office for powertrain concept analysis, sub-system design and virtual component integration. Alternatively it can be put to use in HiL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) environments for control function development and in testbed environments.

Powertrain Concept Analysis
With AVL CRUISETM M vehicle makers can predict fuel efficiency and performance early in the concept phase. This can even be achieved when little vehicle data is available. It enables the modelling of the driveline, electric network and control strategies, while showing their impact upon energy consumption and emissions. The software’s flexibility allows to switch easily between conventional, hybrid and electric powertrain concepts.

Sub-System Analysis
By deploying AVL CRUISE™ M you are able to model different physical domains, including thermodynamics, mechanical and chemical systems, flow and electric.
This allows for the detailed design layout and optimization of numerous sub-systems, such as:

  • Engine gas exchange and combustion
  • Exhaust gas aftertreatment system
  • Driveline
  • Cooling circuit
  • Electric network
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic networks
  • HVAC systems


Control Function Development and Calibration
Control unit development and calibration can be front-loaded, starting in the virtual environment.
Office models can then be reused in a real-time MiL (Model-in-the-Loop), SiL (Software-in-the-Loop) or HiL environment.

Vehicle Simulation on Testbeds
One of the key benefits of AVL CRUISETM M is that office models can be used  as plant models on engine, powertrain and chassis dyno testbeds. This is perfect for controller validation and component testing.

The AVL approach encapsulated in AVL CRUISETM M is applicable over the entire engineering process and works well in combination with third party tools. This enables the integration in your existing development environment, while saving cost and time.
