Metal Technician – Mechanical Engineering m/f

"AVL offers me excellent career opportunities and the possibility to take my high-school leaving examination alongside my apprenticeship."
- Sabine, metal technician, 3rd year of apprenticeship

What's it all about?

The focus of your work will be on mechanical engineering. You will apply various machining techniques on different materials. Starting from technical drawings you will produce components and entire systems following our engineers' concepts; i.e. you are the interface between development and testing, so to speak. Your wider range of tasks also includes assistance for our engineers in the test bed field and vehicle construction.

What you will learn

  • Connecting and machining techniques in mechanics and mechanical engineering (welding, braze-welding, drilling, turning, milling, grinding, filing, etc.)
  • Production, assembly, attaching, securing and mounting of components and assemblies – also in connection with mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Repairs, start-up and (preventive) maintenance of machinery of all types
  • Safety regulations, standards, environmental and quality standards

How long is the apprenticeship?

  • 3,5 years
