Task

Development engineers of diesel and gasoline engines are increasingly forced to implement fuel consumption measurement devices which are reliable in automatic operation with ever shorter measurement times or in transient mode on the testbed and on the road.
The combination of fuel and accurate air intake mass flow is needed for the determination of exhaust mass flow values used for emission development for evaluating absolute emission values from the emission concentrations.
Blow by measurement is a standard task on engine testbeds. It indicates the mechanical condition of the engine. As the blow by value is essential for engine monitoring reliable and robust instruments are required.
Stricter emission regulations e.g. related to particulate emissions, demand reduction and fast measurement of the oil consumption values.
For the application of SCR exhaust aftertreatment systems that are essential due to challenging low emissions limits, the precise calibration of the urea dosage and therefore the precise and fast measurement of the urea flow is required.
