The AVL ROADSIM 48" MIM LIGHT TRUCK HIGH PERFORMANCE™ Chassis Dynamometer is designed for testing passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in applications such as emission analysis or mileage accumulation testing.

AVL Approach

The cradled AC motor is arranged between two fixed rollers. It is designed for ideal road load simulation of vehicles. The mass simulation is realized electrically by the AC motor with a mechanical base inertia of the two rollers. A single or twin axle configuration is available.

Measuring Principle

Tractive force
The tractive force is measured by a strain gauge sensor supporting the cradle mounted motor.

Speed
The speed is measured by an incremental encoder with two 90° shifted tracks with detection of the direction of rotation.
