Temperature Measurement

To ensure safe operation of the unit under test, parameters such as oil or coolant temperature need to be measured and monitored. Measurement of various additional temperatures is required by the type of application (i.e. intake air, exhaust gas, etc.).

AVL Approach

Depending on the temperature range AVL provides two different types of temperature sensors:

Temperature sensor RTD (Pt100) in 4-wire design for accurate measurement of temperatures up to 300°C.

Thermocouple NiCrNi (K-type) sensor for the measurement of temperatures up to 1000°C. The cold junction temperature compensation is integrated in the connector.

Each sensor comes with an isolated screw fitting and a hex nut for sensor placement on the unit under test.

Benefits at a Glance

  • Pt100 accuracy: class A according to EN 60751
  • TC K-type accuracy: class 1 according to IEC 584
  • Separate cold junction temperature compensation for each thermocouple sensor
  • Galvanic isolation against housing
