Powertrain Performance Testing

Powertrain performance testing evaluates the behavior and performance of complete powertrains under controlled and reproducible operating conditions. The primary objectives are to validate key performance indicators such as power, torque, acceleration and gradability while ensuring the durability and service lifetime of transmissions and drivetrain components.

Modern dynamometer-based test systems replace the vehicle wheels and apply precisely controlled speed, torque and load profiles to the powertrain. This enables the simulation of realistic driving conditions, the reproduction of measurement data and the execution of automated test programs in a controlled laboratory environment. AVL Powertrain TS™ Performance combines advanced dynamometer technology, automation and engineering expertise to improve test efficiency and ensure reliable validation results.

Driven by electrification and software integration, manufacturers are facing increasing system complexity, shorter development timelines and rising validation demands. AVL Powertrain TS™ Performance Light-Duty enables highly accurate and repeatable validation of 2WD and 4WD powertrains under realistic operating conditions.
