1 3 F O C U S What specific exhaust gas aftertreatment solutions may look like can be seen in AVL’s numerous demonstrator vehicles. One of these vehicles is, for example, the AVL Low Emission SULEV30 demonstrator, with which AVL illustrates its ability to comply even with the most stringent emission limits. The solution was integrated in an 1,800 kg vehicle with 2.0l displacement and fourcylinder diesel engine. By means of an innovative exhaust gas aftertreatment system and modified combustion, AVL has managed to not only achieve low fuel consumption but also low SULEV30-compliant emission values. What is special about the AVL Low Emission SULEV30 demo car is that the vehicle clearly demonstrates how different solutions can be derived and adapted to individual customer requirements. WHAT MATTERS IS THE RIGHT TECHNOLOGY MIX When it comes to developing efficient emissions solutions, what matters most is the determination of the right combination of engine, exhaust gas aftertreatment system, transmission, electrification, and vehicle. AVL offers efficient possibilities to define the right mix, and to identify very early on in development which exhaust gas aftertreatment components are necessary to achieve pre-defined objectives on a complete system level. “The mix of gasoline, diesel, hybrid or fully electric vehicles is essential for OEMs. We at AVL support customers in this regard by providing advice on how to meet fleet targets. Moreover, we support customers on which sustainable solutions to develop, and how to develop them at market-compliant prices”, Weißbäck pointed out. To put it in a nutshell: With its comprehensive system competences and decades-long experience in powertrain development, instrumentation, test systems and simulation, AVL has the ability to develop robust and tailor-made emissions solutions. “With the introduction of RDE, the test environment experiences a shift – from the lab to the road. AVL supports customers in mastering challenges such as cost pressure and reproducibility of measurement results. Together with OEMs we will continue to develop tailor-made solutions for the most stringent emissions legislations.”, Michael Weißbäck concluded.  < > The innovative complete solution AVL M.O.V.E iS for the measurement of Real Driving Emissions.
