F O C U S 2 5 ly, used for a single test and never used again. Michael Conrad: „In this context there is a great potential to capture the data in a way that allows them to be re-used for future tasks.“ By adopting this approach, already generated measuring data can be reused for similar tests, for process optimization or in simulation models. „Before this can succeed, we face a variety of challenges: The different types of data sources must be merged and documented with metadata or context data. Otherwise it would not be possible to interpret the data properly later. With our product generation AVL SANTORIN MX 2™, we have already launched initial products which address this challenge, and further steps toward data intelligence are being implemented consistently,“ Voigt stated. ENGINEERING KNOW-HOW & GLOBAL KNOWLEDGE SHARING In the age of social media, it is becoming easier and easier to give people access to the knowledge of individuals, but also of entire collectives. Kai Voigt: „To accomplish this, it will be crucial to create platforms where humans, machines and computers can engage in an interactive dialog with each other and collaborate. Today there are lots of problems that cannot be solved by individuals but require the collaboration of many people.“ Shaping the platform of the future will therefore require the continued cooperation of many people – OEMs, suppliers and technology partners. In this respect, AVL has already made great progress, and it will continue to implement projects to ensure that tomorrow‘ s test facilities are within our grasp today. Conrad: „As a supplier of test systems, AVL will be establishing partnerships and making joint solutions available, because the link between development domains also plays a key role in the concept of cutting-edge test facilities.“ Kai Voigt concluded: „Our AVL experts work together with our customers and partners to be able to take into account the many use cases at an early stage. This allows us to identify many issues encountered in the development of modern drive systems, which we address with our technological expertise. The innovations that emerge by addressing these issues will help to shape the test facility of the future. There is more to innovation than just technology.“ < > Michael Conrad, AVL Director of Portfolio Management, Instrumentation and Test Systems Photo: © AVL/Peter Riedler.
