Within the scope of AVL’s Advanced Simulation Technologies, Dacolt will help to create new simulation applications in the field of industrial combustion. Helmut List, CEO AVL: „This is a major move toward expanding and strengthening AVL’s expertise.“ Gotthard Rainer, Vice President AVL Advanced Simulation Technologies, adding: “Dacolt’s software guarantees engineers a highly > From left to right: Manfred Klell, Scientific Director HyCentA, Helmut List, CEO AVL, Andrea Hoffmann, Vice Rector TU Graz, and Gerhard Rüsch, City Councillor of Graz, at the opening of the fuel cell testbed in late October 2016. accurate prediction of the combustion process in an unbeatably short time.” Dacolt is known for its state-ofthe art detailed chemistry software Tabkin™ and CFD engineering services (CFD – computational fluid dynamics)  < The research center HyCentA, along with AVL, opened Europe’s most modern test infrastructure for fuel cell systems at the Graz University of Technology in late October 2016. The highly dynamic test environment’s spectrum of application ranges from cold start testing and dynamic operation under real load conditions to the observation of accelerated ageing processes. With this, fuel cell systems can be analyzed and evaluated systematically and highly efficiently. Moreover, the test infrastructure was developed to investigate characteristics and different applications of fuel cell systems.  < > In acquiring Dacolt, AVL significantly expands its simulation competences. With the opening of the new AVL Technical Center in Kawasaki, Japan, in mid November, 2016, a center has been put into operation that will serve as a major technology hub for the Japanese automotive industry. AVL CEO Helmut List: „With the new technical center for modern powertrain technology AVL is even closer to our Japanese customers. The center will contribute essentially toward the success in the development of future-proof powertrain technologies through synergies between engineering, simulation, and testing.“ The new AVL Technical Center in Japan was designed with the aim to cut development time and costs, and will deliver engineering services geared to the entire powertrain. The center houses a team of 60 experts specializing in design, simulation, development and calibration.  < > Olaf Hiller, Marko Dekena, Helmut List, Harald Alge, Takahiro Noyori and Naoki Okada at the opening ceremony (from left to right).
