Within the framework of production, end of life test systems are used to evaluate, analyze and optimize the quality of internal combustion engines. The measurement, test and process systems are designed according to the customers’ requirements and are based on the proven AVL hardware and software standards. INCREASING SYSTEM COMPLEXITY WITH ENGINES Due to the ever increasing system complexity and diversity of variants for internal combustion engines, the challenges for end of line testing increases as well. Both the increasing number of sensors and the actuation system and numerous new mechatronic systems are responsible for the aforementioned. Furthermore, engine components are increasingly purchased from third parties, whereby the quality can no longer be influenced by the OEMs. Today, a simple hot test with no load is no longer sufficient to ensure functionality and quality of a state-of-the-art engine. Today, test methodology and technology must be adapted precisely to the drives to be tested and the production processes to be used. The AVL solutions aim at integrating the production test facility in the production procedure in a holistic manner. AVL end-of-line test solutions are available for the areas light-duty, medium-duty and heavy-duty engines. The range of solutions starts with the verification of the functionality of subsystems in the manufacturing line and covers cold and hot tests to quality audit testing.
